Bullet Train

This is a non-marvel Deadpool without the crude language of Ryan Reynolds. The story is the character that you are working through and the characters are the scene. I know that sounds super pretentious, but the characters have no development and that isn't a bad thing.

Review

This is a non-marvel Deadpool without the crude language of Ryan Reynolds. The story is the character that you are working through and the characters are the scene. I know that sounds super pretentious, but the characters have no development and that isn't a bad thing. They play well together helping each other as needed, but no one has an epiphany or anything like that to "make them go straight."

The fight scenes are super slap-sticky and honestly that makes it great. Just the most absurd events like a guy slipping and breaking his neck, a dude who loves Thomas the Tank Engine, and a couple of Russians that are sadistic. Wait, that last things is pretty typical, but still well played here.

As this is a Japanese bullet train, the setting is pretty stagnant, but that doesn't hurt the story, just like in the Martian a singular set doesn't hurt the story.

My Rating

This is an entertaining film. There is no substance that will change your mind about life, but you will laugh and give a big "Oh damn" when things happen. Because a lot of the events are shocking, the rewatchability of this movie is pretty low, but you are still entertained and brought into the world. When I first started writing this, I gave it a 6, but I think it is a 7. It is just a entertaining movie.

Parental Rating

The amount of violence and blood in this movie makes my mom avoid it on principal. The language is constant throughout the film and is heavy in its usage so my dad is out. However, my dad would watch it with his sons if it were on.
