Synopsis

Eric Hill continues his work to support the supremacy of the American government until his helicopter crashes with him being the only survivor and is taken in by a local native group. Meanwhile, new leadership within the American government makes the work of Admiral Curtis much more difficult, especially when a new homegrown terrorist is targeting American leadership. A new arms race begins.

Brief Review

This book does a great job with the description of technology, places, and cultures, but this book feels like a .5 in the series. For instance, the first book The Last Sword Maker(https://www.blackstonepublishing.com/the-last-sword-maker-cb8w.html#541=3805) has a great full story of events, where this one felt like a filler almost an entire book that is a filler episode. It plays up the next and final book set to release 3/21/2023. It is a good story, but doesn't really drive the main character forward.

Why I Read this book

I stumbled upon (That was a great website back in the day https://www.stumbleupon.com/) the first book via my walk through a book store and it sat in my library for a while. When I listened to it last year or the year prior, I didn't realize it was a series and it might not have been at that point. It was a great story, so when I was recommended this book as a continuation I was very excited.

In-Depth Review (Favorite Quotes)

This book is a great story on its own. I already talked about that it doesn't really create a new additional information about the overall story, it does introduce new hiccups into the side characters lives (Curtis and the others). I really don't have a lot to add this about the story.

The story was good, but it did start to get VERY political and environmental near the end. While I agree that we as humans need to change somethings, but the limits this book goes into feels more fantasy than I think meets reality.

There is one story point that I feel made no sense. There is a scene where a FBI agent goes somewhere and is met by his ex-wife so he doesn't do what he was there to do and the whole "chapter" doesn't fit. Filler for the filler book?

How my life / behavior / thoughts / ideas have changed as a result of reading the book.

There is a good explanation of native African tribes and since I listened to this on Audible, I got to hear the correct pronunciations of the African words, specifically the ones with "clicks". That is probably the coolest thing that I learned in this book was that there were multiple different versions and how they were implemented. Will my life change because of this? no, I will most likely never learn the language or meet someone that I will need to know it, but It is interesting to say the least.

I feel like I have been really harsh on this book especially since I really enjoyed the story, but I feel that it doesn't serve a purpose outside of extending a story. The plot points that drive the entire trilogy forward are small like 3 "chapters" worth. Didn't need another book for all of it really.
