Passengers (2016)

Synopsis

During a space journey to a new planet, the ship runs through a asteroid belt while everyone is in statis. Chris Prat, due to a system failure, wakes up and is alone in a ship that is supposed to support 5000+ people.

Review

I have seen this movie before and it is still a good movie. I mean it has only been 5 years, but it has held up well. The story is any lost at sea/castaway/stranded somewhere with a modern twist. As I watch it just for this writing, I really feel it does a good job of portraying a time of events and the lostness of being alone. You are pulled into the universe, with one exception. A tree and lack of asking questions.

I really dislike when in movies, the characters don't question the plot. I mean if I woke up in the middle of a 30 year space voyage, I'd want to look over logs, actions, whatever. One random dude being around before me doesn't make me feel better.

The ship was dope. I mean the thought process they put into making the ship a true cruise liner was awesome. I am a sucker for a good space movie and this is for sure one of the top ones for pure entertainment purposes. Chris and Jennifer play the same character they always play; Whiney cool guy and moody strong girl respectively. They are great at these roles for sure, but there is nothing groundbreaking in them. Jennifer did a much better job in [[Red Sparrow]] than this.

My Rating

Like I said, I am a sucker for a good space movie and this is for sure one of them. I can buy into the lore, I can buy into the ship, minus the tree. The design and story are well told. Go watch this is for some reason you haven't seen a 7 year old movie. 6.5

Parental Rating

I am pretty sure that my parents have both watched this movie and enjoyed it. The sex scene is there and intense, but nothing is really shown. The language is very minimal, PG-13, so that means both are on board.
