In-Depth Review (Favorite Quotes)

This book is so damn predictable that I am not sure how it was a New York Times Best Seller. However, knowing the majoring of the human race... it makes sense. The story is exactly what you think, a down trodden lower caste member of the society is forced to take a stand due to the death of a family member. The only difference here is the forced evolution of the human race.

The main character starts out wanting nothing to do with his rebellion and even after being forced into it he decides he wants to not be involved. Somewhere, almost one page over, he decides that he wants revenge. It is such drastic shift. The rest of the characters are alright, they play a decent role, but there is no movement in the growth factor. They don't change from their initial description, just the main characters enjoyment of the character changes which isn't the character itself.

I do like the setting and idea behind it. Colors represent a place in society and there have been physical and mental enhancements to match the colors "place" and whatnot. I like this idea of that humans have terraformed the galaxy and are living in different places. Pretty cool.

Rating

I am very upset that I enjoyed parts of this book. The story is VERY well written and is 100% what Hunger Games attempted to do. However, I am so tired of dystopian novels where CHILDREN are the sociopaths that are taking over the world. It is played out, outrageously stupid, and none of these are even consistently plausible in a society. I know it a book and you need to suspend disbelief, but I can't get behind this anymore. This book was so HIGHLY predictable that I didn't want to read it. It is well written and for that it is an 8, but I will not continue the series as I can't get behind a bunch of children sociopaths running around and an adult doesn't just smash them immediately in such a violent world.
